The 0xPARC ZK Identity Working Group connects a small handful of individuals and teams in the 0xPARC community working on infrastructure, circuits, and applications for zkSNARK-enabled cryptographic primitives and related building blocks.

The first Working Group runs from January through April 2022. We plan to bring contributors together at Ethereum DevConnect (April 18-25), a week-long “super-conference” in Amsterdam where many teams from the applied ZK ecosystem (rollup companies, researchers, application developers) will be gathering.

Goals and Scope

The ZK-ID Working Group has three primary goals:

The scope of the Working Group is fairly wide. As we’ve laid out in our posts about ZK Identity (link), projects may include implementation of specific cryptographic primitives in ZK circuits, proof-of-concept applications of these primitives, and developer tools for building and auditing circuits. Projects may range from proof-of-concept explorations that are far from production but effectively demonstrate a potential technique, to prototypes for products or protocols that could be live within a few months.

Projects

Working Group projects sit somewhere between theory and practice. A project might be a mix of a “research project,” “product prototype/concept demonstration,” and/or “open-source tool.” We encourage projects to orient around the following deliverables:

Current project threads and proposals are listed below. Click into the project name for more detailed objectives, specs, links, and more.

Administration

We’ll run a biweekly meeting for the Working Group community at large (recurring time Wednesdays 6PM PT / 9PM ET).

Teams and individuals involved in specific projects and encouraged to set up recurring meetings as well.
